2026 Sandals of summer
It's that time of year again!
The last time I wrote about sandals was in the summer of 2024 and honestly, many of those trends are still going strong. Thong sandals have evolved into elevated flip flops that pair just as easily with denim as they do with dresses. Wedges continue to stand strong, and the fisherman sandal is still casting a wide net.
For this year's roundup, I sourced a mix of classic favorites and newer styles that feel fresh for Summer 2026. Whether you're spending the season in New York City, the Bay Area, or anywhere else that calls for breathable footwear, these are the sandal trends I expect to see everywhere this season.
Thong Sandals
The thong sandal never really went away, but this season's version feels a bit more elevated. Styles with a heel, a wedge, metallic finishes, or interesting textures make this once casual sandal feel polished enough for dresses, dinners, and beyond.
Toe Rings
Last time I wrote about sandal season, toe ring sandals were sleek and minimal. This season, they have taken on a more gladiator inspired feel with studs, straps, and hardware details that make them feel edgier.
Clogs
Thankfully, clogs are no longer considered nerdy. Once associated with substitute teachers and sensible footwear, they have officially crossed into cool territory. Comfortable, practical, and surprisingly versatile, today's clogs pair perfectly with the bohemian dresses and relaxed styling that continue to trend this season.
Block Sandals
I am always grateful for the support of a block heel. Whether high or low, this style offers a bit of height without the pain that comes with a stiletto. Easy to walk in and endlessly versatile, these sandals work with everything.
Slides
Sometimes simple is best. Comfortable, easy to wear, and goes with almost anything, the slide sandal remains one of the hardest working shoes in any summer wardrobe.
