Fall 2025 Trends I’ll Be Wearing in NYC

I’ve just landed in Houston to work and to spend time with family for the month, but truthfully, my mind is already in New York City.

Autumn in NYC… sigh. My favorite time to be there. Crisp air, falling leaves, and the perfect excuse to pull out great boots, light layers and the jeans I haven’t worn since April.

Fall fashion has always been my favorite, and this season is no exception. Because I’m already thinking about what to pack, I’m also thinking about what everyone will be wearing.

I don’t believe in necessarily following trends, but they inevitably work their way into every wardrobe in some way. Below are the Fall trends that excite me most for my clients — and what I’ll be packing for fall in New York.

boho lace

Normally thought of as a summer fabric, this Fall, lace is meant for layering. Think dresses over jeans, long skirts with knee-high boots, and airy tops tucked into wide-leg pants. It’s a romantic twist that works surprisingly well in cooler weather.

Polka Dots

They never really went out of style, but this season polka dots are popping up everywhere — in every size, shape, and color. From playful blouses to elegant dresses, polka dots bring just the right amount of whimsy into fall wardrobes.

Leather Jackets

Saint Laurent set the tone for the season with varsity-shaped leather jackets on the runway ; expect to see versions everywhere this fall. Pair them with anything; a feminine dress, your favorite jeans, wide leg pants, it doesn’t matter, just put one on.

Plaid

Plaid feels fresh this fall, whether in dresses, skirts, or oversized coats. It’s a timeless pattern that instantly gives your outfit a classic, autumnal vibe — perfect for NYC’s mix of uptown polish and downtown edge.

Rich Dark Earth tones-

Think brown, burgundy, mustard, deep green, and aubergine. These moody shades feel especially right for fall.

Wide Leg Pants

We’re still in a wide-leg era, and Fall is the perfect time for them — comfortable enough for weekends yet polished enough for the office.

Turtlenecks

The ultimate layering piece. A fitted turtleneck under a blazer looks sharp for work, while an oversized knit tucked into jeans feels effortless for weekends. They’re practical, chic, and one of those basics that make everything else in your closet easy to wear.

Leopard Print

Leopard is officially back — though it never really left. The key is balance: subtle accessories during the day and bold statement pieces when you’re in the mood to stand out. A skirt, a bag, or even a great pair of flats can add just enough punch without overwhelming the rest of your outfit.

Whether you’re layering lace in Houston, pulling out plaid in San Francisco, or strutting leopard down a New York City sidewalk, Fall 2025 is giving us plenty to play with. I’ll be back in NYC next month, ready to swap sandals for boots and soak up that unbeatable street style. Wherever you are, here’s to a season of great outfits and cozy style.
