The Fall 2026 Fashion Trends I’m Most Excited About

This year is flying by!

Driving around the Bay Area, I’ve noticed the leaves on the trees are already starting to change colors and the nights are starting to cool off.

I love fall. The air is crisp and fresh, the light is warm and gorgeous and the fall fashion is layered and lovely.

I often schedule my work around fall in NYC, which, in my opinion, is the very best time to be there. As I start thinking about my packing list, I’ve been reviewing my runway reels (check them out on my Instagram!) and revisiting the Fall 2026 runways.

These are the five trends I’m most excited about this season.

PURPLE

Prince wore it and it’s the color of royalty. This year, it’s the season’s biggest neutral. Pair it with red for a bold take on color blocking or alongside autumn shades like olive and mustard for a more luxurious feel (very YSL).

Plaid

Plaid for fall; groundbreaking. Is it the back to school nostalgia that always brings plaid back in the fall? This year’s version is anything but basic. Mix different scales, colors and patterns to make this classic feel modern.

Velvet

When it comes down to it, the essence of this season is “dark romance.”

I keep thinking about the classic movie, Interview with the Vampire: lace, dark colors and velvet. This season’s take is obviously more modern, with rich colors and unexpected silhouettes that keep this trend from feeling outdated.

Tuxedo Dressing

The tuxedo jacket has been a fashion staple since Yves Saint Laurent introduced Le Smoking in 1966. Sixty years later, it’s still relevant. This fall, tuxedo dressing inspires everything from tailored trousers to crisp white shirts, making the look approachable for everyday wear, not just black tie events.

Brocade

Once reserved for upholstery, royalty and heavy curtains, brocade is having a very fashionable moment. This fall, the ornate fabric is showing up on everything from jackets to shoes, continuing this season’s theme of dark romance.
